- Subtract all weekends (Saturday and Sunday). For every complete week, subtract exactly two days.
- Check for any recognized public or bank holidays that fall on a weekday within that range and subtract them. If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, check whether it is officially observed on the neighboring Monday or Friday.

How many business days are in a typical year?
A standard calendar year of 365 days has either 261 or 262 weekdays. After subtracting 10 to 11 standard national public holidays, there are typically between 250 and 252 business days in a year depending on weekends and leap years.
Does a bank holiday count as a business day?
