How to Use the Days Until Calculator
Select a preset holiday from the quick buttons or type a custom date into the date picker. Add an event name if you want a personalized countdown label. Hit Calculate and the result shows instantly.
The countdown updates to the exact second. It counts full days remaining based on midnight of the target date. So if you check it on December 23rd, it shows 2 days until Christmas, meaning Christmas Day itself is 2 days away.
You can also use this to count backward. If the date you enter is in the past, the tool will show you how many days ago that event occurred.
How Days Until Is Calculated
The formula is simple. The tool takes the target date's midnight timestamp in milliseconds, subtracts today's current timestamp, and divides the difference by the number of milliseconds in a day (86,400,000).
Days Until = (Target Date - Today) / 86,400,000
The remaining milliseconds after extracting full days are divided by 3,600,000 for hours, and 60,000 for minutes. Weeks are calculated by dividing the total days by 7.
