This policy explains what QuixCalc (quixcalc.com) collects, what it does not collect, and who else is involved. It covers every page on this website.

The short version

Your calculations never leave your device. We do not ask you to register, we do not run a user database, and we have no way to see what you type into any tool on this site. What we do have is standard web analytics and, once approved, third party advertising. Both are described below in full.

Calculations are processed in your browser

Every tool on this site is written in JavaScript that runs inside your own browser. When you enter a bill amount, a date of birth, a set of grades or a block of JSON, that data is handled by your device and nothing is transmitted to us. There is no server side calculation endpoint to send it to. If you disconnect from the internet after a page has loaded, the tools keep working, which is the simplest demonstration that the maths is happening locally.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, our hosting provider records basic technical request data. That includes your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page you requested, the site that referred you and the time of the request. This is standard server logging and we use it only to keep the site running and to investigate abuse.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which tools people actually use, so we know what to improve and what to build next. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data including pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device type and session duration. We have configured it to report on aggregate behaviour, not to identify individuals, and we do not upload any personally identifying information to it.

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data entirely by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google's own handling of this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites that use our services.

Advertising

This site is free and is funded by display advertising. We work with Google AdSense as our advertising partner.

• Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You can opt out of third party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
• Opting out of personalised ads does not remove ads. It means the ads you see are less relevant to you.

Third party advertisers may also place cookies from their own domains. We do not control those cookies and cannot read them.

Cookies and local storage

Three categories of data are stored on your device by this site.

• Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, described above.
• Advertising cookies set by Google and its advertising partners, described above.
• Local storage entries set by the site itself. These remember your light or dark theme preference and the last values you entered into a given tool, so returning to a calculator does not mean starting from a blank form. These entries stay on your device, are never transmitted anywhere, and can be cleared at any time through your browser's site data settings.

Sharing a calculation by link

Several tools mirror your inputs into the page address so a result can be copied and sent to someone else. That happens entirely in your browser. If you choose to share such a link, the values in it become visible to whoever receives it, so treat it the same way you would treat any other message. Text areas are deliberately excluded from this mechanism.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a jurisdiction with comparable legislation such as California, you have rights over personal data held about you, including the right to access it, correct it, delete it and object to its processing. Because we do not operate accounts or store the contents of your calculations, the only personal data connected to you is what Google collects through analytics and advertising. Children

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Data retention

We do not maintain a database of visitors. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider under its own retention schedule. Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in our Analytics property.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. When we do, the date at the top of this page is updated. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
